parades for all occasions

an interactive parade-making performance created by Ali Goss + Liz Oakley!

@ Wassaic Project Summer Exibition Block Party July 2021

Parades for All Occasions is an interactive performance event in which participants are invited to plan and perform their own celebratory procession. We provide the Library of Everyday and Extraordinary Things (made up of paper-mache objects and painted banners) and guide participants in choosing from that collection, recognizing their power to name and uplift what's important to them — whether it be fruit, friendship, or frivolity.

During the Wassaic Project July Block Party we worked together with participants young and old to choreograph a procession around Wassaic. Processions will occured once an hour from 4:30 PM to 7:30 PM on July 24th. Parade participants were invited to the front porch of Maxon Mills on the hour to plan the parade, and stepped off on the half-hour for all to see. No previous experience necessary!
